Thirteen w/ Danny Byrd & 2shy on Saturday 6th July 2019

The long over due New Thirteen is here, Bringing the sounds of liquid drum and bass back to the second city. We’ve been planing the launch for months, This is just the start..
So we're kicking off our launch party with one of 'Hospitality' & Radio 1 residents, Danny Bryd!

One of the very first artists to sign to the fledgling Hospital label way back at the turn of the millennium, Danny Byrd’s own inimitable take on soulful, vocal Drum + Bass has become a staple in the scene. His use of hip-hop, house and R&B influences has turned heads ever since his inception. The Bath based, brandy-drinking producer has been responsible from some massive rave anthems over the years, which has gained him Radio One success and international recognition.
Having signed to the label in the early noughties, Danny Byrd released a number of singles, such as “Do It Again” (2000), “Changes” (2001) and “Dog Hill” (2006), However, it was not until 2008 that Danny delivered his long awaited debut long player “Supersized”. Having spent years honing his craft, the album was an excellent display of his skills and featured massive anthems such as “Shock Out”, “From Bath With Love” and “Red Mist (feat I-Kay)”. The album gained support from Radio One heavy hitters such as Annie Mac and Zane Lowe, as well as the mighty Andy C.
2Shy, a name given in irony a fact that becomes evident when he performs. Blessed with an ability matched by few and a versatility to work across all spectrums of music it soon becomes apparent that this well established and supremely talented MC has very little of the shyness about him.He has been perfecting his craft for a number of years and in '96 2Shy became resident MC for Dylan & Facs earlier imprints Biotic and XXX Recordings, he was soon touring as resident MC with these labels throughout Europe and the UK. In '99 2Shy teamed up with good friend and Producer / DJ Mechanism becoming a DJ/MC duo representing MC GQ's 'Emcee Recordings', It was around this time he secured his residency at Fabric Live which he still holds to the present day. It was at Fabric Live where his hard spittin' skills were spotted by Renegade Hardware, and his voice became the signature sound at Hardware club nights worldwide, for over a decade. 2Shy further cemented himself a place within the mighty Metalheadz camp, the empire founded by Goldie and more recently with Ram Records, Playaz, Pure Science and Get Hype.
THIRTEEN Residents
Escape has been actively involved in music since the early days of the British underground music scene and can trace his influences right back to the summer of love days around 1988. Inspired by his big two older brothers, he began experimenting with the hip hop, techno and acid house tunes that defined the era. The explosion of hardcore and the early UK rave scene coincided with Escape starting secondary school and he took it upon himself to convert his group of friends at the time with highly sought after tapes from early pirate stations and legendary live events. Fast forward to recent times, Escape has bought Broken Minds back from the dead with the original Broken Minds CEO, Phase2. They host Broken Minds every month at the famous Hare & Hounds in Birmingham. As well as Broken Minds, Escape hosts We Love The DNB and still continues to host Muzik Hertz parties across the country.
Amusement 13 very own R.A.I (Amo), became dedication to all things music began at an early age; vehemently playing the drums throughout his teenager years before turning that same driven obsession to something new - turntables. The 90’s - and with it Techno, Rave, and Jungle - introduced him to a palette of sounds as well as an early appetite for Drum and Bass. Spinning raw beats for impromptu parties and pirate radio stations his name began to gain traction throughout Birmingham’s local scene.
