Films
Confirmed -
The Seashell and The Clergyman - directed by Germain Dulac. One of the earliest surrealist films from the silent era. The Seashell and the Clergymanfollows a clergyman’s sexual obsession with a general’s wife, and his attempts to fight that obsession. With an extended focus on the strangely beautiful visuals, the film is a surreal classic. With the live soundtrack from Rjania, this will be an ambient, dreamgaze trip into a phantasmagorical world of the weird and wonderful.
Nude Woman by Waterfall - A short film from British cinema pioneer Claude Friese-Greene. Titilating and risqué, the edit includes a brief glimpse of him adjusting the model's pose for the camera. This glimpse into the work of early cinematography becomes an exercise in experimenting with camera techniques and artistic effects. The surroundings are incidental, as the film concentrates on the model's position and movement. Bohemian in style, the scenes echo art nouveau tableaux.
