The Boy with the Lion Head - Album Preview Show on Saturday 5th October 2019

The Boy with the Lion Head formed in the Scottish Borders in 2014, releasing their tender and grand debut album ‘The Ebb and Flow’ in 2015. This quickly earned them slots at King Tut’s and other venues around Scotland, and airplay on BBC and Amazing Radio.

Their follow up EP, 2016’s Everything is Temporary, showcased a new level of intensity and purpose from the band and earned them well deserved slots at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2017, the BBC Bandstand at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Glasgow's Celtic Connections and they were also invited to play the 'Tim Peaks Stage' at Rec Rock festival by curator Peter Salisbury, former member of The Verve.
Often building songs from quiet intricate introductions towards deliciously intertwined atmospheric guitar and keys crescendos, they create an emotive wall of sound playing live. If you want easy comparisons, think Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad.

Following two years spent writing and recording new material, The Boy with The Lion Head are now ready to release their second album A Half Remembered Dream, which promises to see the band build on their signature blend of atmospheric landscapes and haunting melodies.

National Service are a four piece from London drawing influence from the likes of Interpol, The xx, Radiohead and Grizzly Bear. Their signature melancholic wash and colossal brooding soundscapes are layered with hypnotic, textural guitars and deep vocals. Their new EP Meltwater (to be released late summer) is their second EP and was recorded at Saccharine Studios with John Bisset of CALLUNA. The five tracks have been carefully crafted and masterfully constructed to allow the listener to escape into National Service’s fragile, angst-ridden world for a twenty-five minute dose of cathartic revelry. More acute and immediate than on previous releases, the band have noticeably matured in this second coming, where the listener experiences a full tour de force of emotions, each rawer and more vulnerable than before. The first single Concrete is out on Friday 19 July.
