Probably best known as one of the two frontmen for Oldham’s finest Inspiral Carpets Tom still knocks out their classic singles both in his tribute band the Karpets and solo acoustically.

Tom has released a dozen solo and band albums in his solo capacity over the past 25 years and is revising his Manchester indie band The Lovers for two jaunts featuring Tom on Vox, Steve Hanley and Paul Hanley (ex-Fall) bass and drums , Kelly Wood Trade Unionist on Keys and Jason Brown (Extricated and Spairs) on guitar in Manchester at AATMA on February 3rd, 2023 and the World famous 100 Club on February 4th .

Tom has recorded two albums in 2002 his solo Lockdown Opus ‘The Grand Mal’ and ‘Decades’ his collaboration with Too Much Texas guitarist and 1980’s school mate Gordon McKay for the McKay/Hingley six track, mini album which memorialises Gordon’s Mother who passed in 1988 and his Father and sister who died in 2019 , it also celebrates his 60thbirthday. Both albums will be released in 2023 on the Newmemorabilia imprint

Tom plays a mixture of Classic Inspirals back catalogue, originals from his numerous solo records pasts and present and some surprising covers including ‘Wild is The Wind’ and ‘Only You’. His singing encompasses styles such as Soul, Blues , Punk , Folk and Rock, his guitar playing touches styles as diverse as finger picking , Punk Thrash and even some oven cleaning Blues Slide guitar
