Zero 6 venue information
Built by the Budge Brothers in 1972 the nightclub was named 'Zero 6' because it positioned at the end of runway designation 06 at SOUTHEND AIRPORT. Little did they know this was to become the most iconic nightclub in Essex history.
Opened on July 29th 1972 by the Late and great KENNY EVERETT it was the first club in the UK to have a full Quadraphonic sound system (pre digital 5.1) surrounding a sunken stainless steel dance floor, add to that a prerequisite of the day, illuminated flashing 'GOGO' dancers podiums, Lounge bar area and TV roomfitted with reclining aircraft seats, by the standards of the day it was a recipe for success…..
More recently Zero 6 has been renowned in the late 90's for the club night 'Cultural Vibes' which saw the Zero 6 become the home of house & Garage... http://www.keme.co.uk/~carl/soloessex.htm
