Manchester’s own salute has dropped their first solo release of 2025 with ‘gbesoke’, a vibrant, Nigerian-rooted anthem with rising indie-rock vocalist Peter Xan. Out now on Ninja Tune, the track arrives hot on the heels of their collaboration with Jessie Ware and acclaimed debut album TRUE MAGIC - and it’s already sounding like a serious summer anthem.
“Gbesoke originally came about during the making of my album, TRUE MAGIC, but it wasn't until after its release that the production clicked for me,” salute comments. “With Peter Xan and I both having Nigerian heritage in common, it's sick to have his Yoruba roots shine through in the lyrics. Gbesoke, lo le is essentially a call to put your hands up and dance. We're really stoked to be able to share this one with you."
The track caps off a huge few months for salute, who’s been nominated for BBC Radio 1’s Dance Awards, shortlisted for a MOBO (for the second year running), and named ‘One To Watch’ at the Beatport Awards. They’ve also been busy reworking tracks by Basement Jaxx, Hikaru Utada and Ewan McVicar, all while taking their TRUE VISION live show to Coachella, and gearing up for Parklife, All Points East, Creamfields, and more across the summer.
Listen to ‘gbesoke’ now — available everywhere via Ninja Tune.
