Saturday 14th July sees hedonistic party night Pushca return to London, headlined by David Morales.

We caught up with the iconic US house producer ahead of his first London date of 2012 to talk about the new album, his personal evolution, and why he doesn't really listen to music.

Your new album Changes is out now. How have things been for you since its release?

Everything has been amazing so far. I really can't complain. With the new single and video of "Golden Era" with Roisin Murphy, and the successful album release party, the opening of my new Lounge in Mykonos, things couldn't be better.

The music world is quite a different place now to what it was in 2004 when you released '2 Worlds Collide'. Were there any major differences in the whole album process this time around?

Not really. I mean I just go with the flow. Obviously a lot has changed musically since then.

What does the title of the album signify? Changes in you or changes in the world around you?

Changes everywhere. Personal and globally. A lot has happened in the course of recording my new album.

'Golden Era' with Roisin Murphy is a huge track from the new album. How does the sound of this track compare to your earlier big singles?

It really doesn't compare other than it's a proper song. I want to say that it's an evolution for me.

What up and coming DJs/producers are doing it for you at the moment? Anyone you can recommend?

I love a lot of what Quentin Harris is doing. He has a unique sound. I also like some of Jamie Jones' work. There's a lot of new talent out there right now. It's hard to keep up.

What else is coming up for you this year? Will you be on the promo trail with the new album?

I'm relaunching the Def Mix label this summer with some other productions of mine. A new record by both The Boss and The Face. I will also do some dates with some performances by some artists on my album.

You've been witness to so much evolution and progression in dance music over the course of your career. What, for you, has been the most exciting period for electronic music?

For me the best was 1989 - 2008.

What are your thoughts on the commercial 'EDM' explosion in the US at the moment?

It's amazing the response that it's getting. It's a good thing at least, because finally America is participating in the global club scene. It's just too bad that the US is stuck on just one thing. There's so much styles of music out there today that deserve to be heard and enjoyed.

Can you tell us something surprising about David Morales? Any unlikely hobbies or interesting facts that your fans might not know about you?

I'm a very quiet and reserved person. I really don't go out much. I don't really listen to music at home. I produce music but I don't really listen to music. I also love to cook.

You're playing at Pushca on July 14th. How much do you know much about Pushca's parties?

I don't know anything about Pushca but I've been told about they're legendary parties or should I say events, and judging by the artwork alone I expect a full on experience. I am most definitely looking forward to it.

What can the Pushca crowd expect from you on the 14th?

Ha ha. Expect nothing and expect the most.

And finally, what are your top three 2012 summer smashers?

1. 'Golden Era' - David Morales & Roisin Murphy

2.'Turn Around' - Sean Finn & Kid Chris feat. David Moore

3. DM VS Black Box - OCD

Thanks David, see you on the 14th!
