Yasmine was inspired to begin competing in natural beauty pageants after being victim to repeated racist abuse. Although Yasmine was born and raised in Liverpool, and has over 3 generations of family here, we still found ourselves defending her roots. Her self-esteem started to suffer and it became challenging to encourage her to find excitement in anything. Although Yasmine is passionate about pursuing an acting career, her confidence suffered due to repeated attacks on her skin colour. We took the decision to show Yasmine that beauty comes in all shapes, colours and sizes, and we found ourselves at the wonderful natural international beauty pageant - Face of Europe and the World!

I was completely gobsmacked when Yasmine won her title of the Mini Face of the North West, after competing in many challenging areas, such as her commitment to support charity and appearances, her ability to interview well, as well as a fashion catwalk round and finally the princess round where she got to wear a beautiful luxury gown. Yasmine has since committed herself to over 50 appearances helping other charities and organisations and has already raised over £700 for Headway charity. She is hoping to raise thousands of pound for them to donate in time for the international finals in May 2017, in Disneyland Paris! Girls from all over the world will travel to show why they believe they should be crowned the Face of Europe and the World, with Yasmine determined to bring the crown to her hometown Liverpool!

We have has immense support from the people of Liverpool, and Yasmines' confidence has grown leaps and bounds! Her fashion show fundraiser - Made in Liverpool - is her last chance to show people what an amazing charity Headway is while they enjoy the entertainment we have. Local clothing designer Sine Missione, has agreed to come along and showcase his line, whilst supporting the auction with a bespoke designed t-shirt. We have also had the support of popular scouse personality - Mark Byron, who is interesting in coming along to enjoy the evening!

I know it is hard for some to believe the beauty pageants can HELP someone self-esteem, but for Yasmine, it has been our saving grace.
