Copesetic have been playing old school reggae at the Klondyke in Levenshulme for several years.

We are a group of vinyl collectors and reggae nuts with a taste for the more soulful side of Jamaica's greatest export.

A chance discovery of an original 1970s reggae valve sound system amplifier in a south Manchester electrical shop persuaded us to attempt to refurbish the beast and incorporate it into our sound.

With expert help from Huddersfield's Axis Sound System (run by Paul Huxtable who now runs his own custom built valve sound system - dubbed Valv-A-Tron) we built up a set with attention paid to sweet and powerful bass and authentic presentation of old school Jamaican music from ska through to early dancehall.

As we've travelled along this road we've had the pleasure to team up with some of Manchester's original back in the day sound men, including King Cosmic (feat local Reggae Thursday's organiser Mudsy) and Marvin Brown (who runs Ital Maf-Yah) who by chance owns the sister amp to our own.

We have been quietly building a reputation for putting on warm and welcoming dances that appeal to all ages and anyone with an ear for good tunes and an addiction to bass.

This Friday (2nd September) it gives us great pleasure to welcome Nottingham's Tradition Hi-Fi. This will be a top night of musical and dancing enjoyment and what's more completely free.

Hope to see you at the Klondyke, Levenshulme M192HQ 9 til late so you can find our more of what it's about ;)
