The four members met in their native Shrewsbury and collectively moved to Leeds a couple of years ago. By the start of 2005 the band had signed to City Rockers and in July of the same year released their debut single, Put You In Your Place. A second single, Commercial Breakdown, garnered acclaim from XFM and the NME while their raucous live shows were met with universal praise. The band are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, which is being recorded with Dan Kahuna (FC Kahuna), Segs and Steve Dubb. The long player is planned to be released in the early autumn of 2006.
The Sunshine Underground are: Craig Wellington (vocal / guitar), Stuart Jones (guitar), Daley Smith (bass) & Matthew Gwilt (drums).
