The Edinburgh Fringe has revealed its second batch of names for the 2026 edition, with over 1,700 shows added to the month-long smorgasbord of comedy, theatre, and performance arts in the Scottish capital.

Returning from Friday 7th – Monday 31st August, the world’s biggest arts festival is once again set to transform Edinburgh into a non-stop playground of theatre, comedy, music and everything in between. Whether you're planning to pack your days with back-to-back shows or just soak it all in with a pint between venues, the time to start plotting is now.

With the latest programme drop, the festival now boasts more than 2,000 shows across 250+ venues, with thousands more still to come ahead of the full programme release on June 4th.

As ever, the scale is part of the magic. From street performances and late-night cabaret to big-name stand-up and must-see theatre, the Fringe continues to live up to its reputation as “the greatest celebration of arts and culture on the planet.”

This year’s highlights already include a strong comedy showing, with Daniel Sloss, Ania Magliano, Phil Ellis, Rhys James, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Olga Koch, Paddy Young, Elf Lyons, Horatio Gould, and many many more, all set to appear across the month. On the theatre side, there’s plenty to get stuck into too, with Trainspotting Live returning as a Fringe must-see, alongside productions like Biff to the Future, Come From Away, and ...Earnest, offering everything from cult adaptations to big-stage storytelling.

Speaking on this year’s festival, Chief Executive Tony Lankester said: “It’s the 79th year of the Fringe, but this annual celebration of the arts is showing no signs of letting up – audiences are, once again, going to be spoiled for choice and we encourage those joining us to get planning and fill up their diaries. From emerging talent to old favourites, this year we’re asking audiences to mix it up and take a chance on something new.

“Booking tickets in advance supports the thousands of artists who come to the Fringe every year, and with so many shows now available to book, I’d encourage you to start planning your 2026 Fringe.”

With tickets already on sale for a huge portion of the programme, and more shows still to be announced, Edinburgh Fringe 2026 is shaping up to be another all-consuming month of creativity — and one you’ll want to get ahead of.
