Not content with putting together one of the choicest music lineups of the year – an exciting, eclectic combination of the hottest established names (The Streets, The Charlatans, The Zutons, Bon Iver, Saint Etienne, Mystery Jets) and the best and brightest in upcoming talent (Dan Black, Micachu and the Shapes, Chairlift) Now for the fourth successive year the good people at eFESTIVALS will be providing a comedic treat for the Summer Sundae Weekender faithful.
The Comedy tent will feature top name headliners including 2007 if.comedy winner BRENDON BURNS (“'One of the most exciting comics in the UK” Time Out) musical tomfoolery from ROB DEERING (“Ingenious and hilarious” The Guardian), plus the finest in cerebral comedy from ROBIN INCE and political animal ANDY ZALTZMAN.
The packed programme also includes a whole host of hilarious emerging talent including Leicester Comedy Festival Best Show Winner AL PITCHER, the UK’s only deaf comedian STEVE DAY along with DAN NIGHTINGALE. MARKUS BIRDMAN, HAL CRUTTENDEN and Frankie Boyle’s support act, MARTIN ‘BIGPIG’ MOR all designed to provide laughter throughout the weekend.
eFestivals has a commitment to support UK festivals with 10% of its turnover, and is delighted to support one of the best events in the festival calendar by sponsoring the eFestivals Cabaret Tent at this year's Summer Sundae Weekender.
Summer Sundae Director Richard Haswell commented: “Let's face it, some of today's bands can be a miserable lot at times, and people do sometimes want to get away from the music for a while and have a good laugh. The eFestivals cabaret tent fulfilled that brief brilliantly in 2006 and was one of the highlights of the festival. So we are delighted that it is back again this year with expanded opening hours and an even greater range of comic talent.
We’re equally pleased to be renewing our friendship with the lovely people at Leicester Comedy Festival and at, programmers and sponsors respectively, without whom we'd have to spend longer contemplating the mysteries of the universe and less giggling childishly at a spectacularly immature double entendre...”
The eFestivals Comedy Tent is programmed by Leicester Comedy Festival, the UK’s longest running comedy festival.
