Working class heroes Smoove and Turrell fuse together a number of genres to create their contemporary take on a sound which dominated the UK in the 70s - Northern Soul. Elements of funk and hip hop also meet the groove, with the gritty and powerful group gaining their rightful place within the international soul scene with their modern and unique twist of styles.
Held together by producer and DJ Jonathan Scott Watson, better known by his Smoove alias, and singer John Turrell, the group form a six piece on tour, and have recently released their fourth album, Crown Posada, which takes further inspiration from electronic artists as well as classic soul. It also delivers honest lyrics of love, politics and the hardships of growing up working class and mixes.
They will be heading out on tour to showcase live incarnations of their new release, as well as the songs from their back catalogue that put them on the Northern Soul map. You can catch Smoove and Turrell as Bristol, Liverpool, Stoke-On-Trent and Tynemouth.
