Open Goal is back! With the new footy season just around the corner, this feature returns to bring you up to date with all the latest footy action. There's no feeling quite like a new football season, anything could happen, so many memories are about to be made and new signings are ready to either write themselves into your club's folklore or flop.

All eyes were on England's lionesses over the weekend as they were gearing up to play Germany having only conceded 1 goal throughout the entire tournament. A record 17.4 million people tuned in to cheer on the team who were playing at a packed-out Wembley, full of young fans who will forever be inspired.

After a tight and tense encounter, the deadlock was broken by substitute Ella Toone who chipped the goalkeeper beautifully after an excellent through ball. However, an equaliser wasn't far behind as Germany's Lina Magull thrashed into the net from close range after some excellent build-up play.

So extra time was needed and the nerves were ramped up. England were lucking strong and in the 110th minute, they got their reward. Chloe Kelly scrambled in an equaliser that will see her name go down in England Women's history forever. Jubilant scenes ensued, with some hilarious post-match interviews and the whole team gatecrashing the post-match conference.

It was a rare moment where the entire nation can feel proud of them, this team of history makers will never be forgotten. Aside from the national glory, the EFL divisions kicked off this weekend too, with fans flocking to see the new-look teams of their local sides. Nothing much compares to EFL matchdays, they have some of the most passionate fans in the country.

The other big game of the weekend saw Liverpool take on Manchester City in the Community Shield trophy. Whilst it is viewed mainly as a friendly, there wasn't much doubt that Liverpool looked the fittest of the two sides. Trent Alexander-Arnold whipped the first goal in from the edge of the box before City's new signing Alvarez equalised from an Adrian spill.

The game was changed when Darwin Nunez was introduced, he looked incredibly sharp and won a handball off Dias which resulted in a penalty. Salah scored it convincingly and a few minutes later he chipped a brilliant ball to Robertson who nodded it down for Nunez to head in for his first goal. A memorable debut.

It was less memorable for Haaland who missed two easy chances including an open goal in the final minute but make no mistake he was getting in all the right places and will be an absolute nightmare for Premier League defenders all season.
