Review: Ape & Metropolis present Skream and Andy C @ The Warehouse Project

With the big guns in town for Ape vs. Metropolis - in my opinion the stand out event of the WHP's annual Easter Weekend festivities - expectations were high.

After being served at the bar in record time, we walked through to the main room where Skream was pretty much changing people’s lives. 

After Skream had finished lighting the place up, Sky FX stepped up. But according to people in the crowd around me, he played an exact, song-for-song replica of a previously performed set. Can't knock it though, he brought the Bashment in at the start. We watched around 15 minutes then went into the back room to catch the rest of Jackmaster’s set.

Disappointingly, the back room was pretty empty for Jackmaster… to begin with. The man who has recently been awarded DJ Mag’s breakthrough DJ of the year quickly filled the room - and with good reason. He went through some garage, dubstep, rap and a lot more in between.

We caught the start of Roska, who was holding it down nicely in his trademark style, before passing back through to the main room. We didn’t hang around in there that much longer as the atmosphere had died off quite a bit during the drum & bass, which was a shame.

All in all, a good lineup, good music, good hospitality, but the event lacked a bit of atmosphere, and I found myself hoping that they do something new and groundbreaking again come September.
