After frontman Peter Doherty teasing fans about a reunion in interviews, Babyshambles have officially announced their live return after eleven years.
Reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band's debut 2005 album, Down In Albion, which features tracks like ‘F*ck Forever’, ‘Pipedown’, and ‘Killamangiro’, fans are likely ecstatic at the news after months of speculation.
Formed after the split of Doherty’s band The Libertines split, Babyshambles released a handful of staple indie albums and tracks throughout the 00s and 2010s - including three top ten albums and four top ten singles - before Doherty put the band on pause to focus on solo music.
The announcement comes a few months after the death of Babyshambles guitarist Patrick Walden in June this year.
About the tour, Doherty said, “It’s unfinished business and everywhere I go I get ‘what’s happening with the ‘Shambles. It’s a no-brainer for me, a real desire to play some of them old tunes and have a little shindig.”
Bassist Drew McConnell said, “The death of Patrick (Walden) made us determined that we have to tour now.”
The band has had lineup changes in the past. The band for the tour is: Peter Doherty (vocals/guitar), Mick Whitnall (guitar), Drew McConnell (bass), and Adam Ficek (drums).
