PM announces £88million investment towards youth music, arts and more

With the new generation immersed in the internet, PM Keir Starmer is putting forward opportunities for the youth of today to gain important life skills

After noticing the decade-long decline in investment for youth clubs of over 70 per cent, the government has been making changes for the younger generation of today to become less digital. From announcing the Online Safety Act (25th July), which saw a swift change with age verifications, the UK PM has now announced further enforcement to help the younger generation of today connect less online and more with their surroundings. 

This plan is part of the PM's new Plan For Change, serving as a major expansion for youth services and real-world opportunities for young people in the UK, encouraging them to get involved in music, arts and more. To push this action forward, £88million will be invested into youth clubs and schools to provide more after-school activities. 

Meaning better access to music clubs and lessons to learn an instrument, as well as numerous sports clubs, dance classes, rock climbing activities, arts classes and more. This plan then also aligns with the move to extend voting rights to 16 and 17-year-olds, and the £500million Better Futures Fund to protect young people from online harms. 

PM Keir Starmer spoke out about the plans, 'Through our Plan for Change, we’re backing parents by not only protecting our young people online, but giving them the support and opportunities they deserve so no child falls through the cracks.'
