Overmono are dropping their long-awaited second album this summer. Pure Devotion is set for release on Friday 7th August via XL Recordings, and new single ‘Lockup’ is out now.
Described as their most ambitious project to date, Pure Devotion features contributions from John Joseph Holt, Kindora, Ruth Ven, and Rock Floyd. The pair, comprising brothers Ed and Tom Russell, described the 11-track record as an attempt to “make something that captured the physical space of our studios; setting up loads of ways of processing, recording, re-amping sounds… We ran tape over magnets, blew up some speakers and finally utilised that dirt-cheap overclocked FX unit we snaffled years ago in Bromley. We even oven baked a cymbal covered in coffee grounds, crisps and vinegar.”
Lead single 'Lockup' is out now, featuring a video directed by regular collaborator and filmmaker Rollo Jackson, who additionally produced the upcoming album’s artwork.
