If you're familiar with the brand Kenzo, then you may have heard of the name Nigo. If not, then you're in for a treat as an exhibition filled with 700 of his personal items has just opened in London. Titled Nigo: From Japan with Love, the exhibition will display archival clothing from Racks of rare, early-era BAPE designs that stand alongside defining garments that erased the boundaries between accessible urban clothing and high fashion.

Known for his heavy influence within streetwear clothing and culture, Japanese designer Nigo shaped modern fashion. The timeline showcases a deeply influential career trajectory, tracking his beginnings as the founder of Bathing Ape right through to his current tenure as the artistic director of Kenzo.

With the rarity of being able to examine these genre-defining pieces up close, a recreation of his teenage bedroom anchors the early years, highlighting the musical and visual sparks behind his global empire. This then follows through to different artistic mediums, including a life-size glass teahouse that sits within the gallery space, built specifically to frame his own ceramic creations.

Nigo: From Japan with Love is now open at the London Design Museum until Sunday 4th October 2026.
