LISA LASHES: ‘CAN’T SLEEP’
LASHED MUSIC

Lisa Lashes is the biggest female DJ in the world – no contest. From rocking exotic dancefloors and the planets biggest clubs, to events for the UK Hell’s Angels, and being a patron of the Pink Ribbon Trust breast cancer charity, Lisa’s seen more of life than most. One of dance music’s most flamboyant characters, her music speaks for itself: anthemic, underground, and with so much energy it’s a wonder the International Atomic Agency hasn’t slapped a sanction on her.

Lisa has spent the last few years building a reputation beyond harder dancefloors with her unique blend of dirty, tech breaks, and electro house. In addition to supporting Pete Doherty and Babyshambles, her Lashed parties have seen guest DJ sets from the likes of Freq Nasty, Tom Neville, Freestylers, Dave Angel, and many more. Recent single, ‘Always Faithful’, an explosive hard dance workout that laid waste to clubs the world over, served notice that 2007 would be Lisa’s year. This second salvo hits the dancefloor ahead of her debut artist album due for release in late summer…

‘Can’t Sleep’, written in homage to those ‘difficult’ hours of the early morning, is the next release on Lisa’s recently launched label Lashed Music, the platform for her own material and music from the best emerging talent. It’s an adrenaline-fuelled dancefloor banger, taking a wiggling, elasticated electro bassline and marrying it to subtle techy percussion and all manner of acid hooks. This dirty cut is topped off by a classically-style hard house riff that recalls the likes of Ilogik and Andy Farley, making for a energetic slice of dance music that is tough without being overwhelmingly fierce. Vinylgroover & The Red Hed go for a rolling tech-trance vibe on his remix with warped sub-bass and powerful riffs, while Technikal takes a groovy Sentience style b-line, punchy kicks and a hardcore style main riff to create a peak-time floorfiller on his re-rub.
