When someone as influential as John Peel describes you as god, you know you're onto a good thing. Such was the accolade bestowed upon Grandmaster Gareth, frontman of Birmingham's lovable weirdos Misty's Big Adventure, the radio legend was entranced by the group's oddball mix of pop, ska, jazz, indie, psychedelia, folk, punk and more.

The eight piece have been a cult collective of considerable repute since, working with the likes of Noddy Holder, Gruff Rhys and Sir Patrick Moore to further augment their leftfield appeal, best evidenced by their last album release, 2011's The Family Amusement Centre (stream above on Spotify).

The group have four dates this month where you can catch them live. They'll be hitting the North London hotspot of Islington on Thursday 5th June, to play in the O2 Academy for the first leg (main ticket link), with more dates at Birmingham's Hare & Hounds on Friday 6th, The Exchange in Bristol on Saturday 7th and Manchester at the Club Academy on Friday 13th.
