East London’s Brick Lane will welcome over 30 acts and 2000 music lovers on Thursday 13 August as Macmillan’s Brick Lane Takeover kicks off at 12 noon, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Latest additions to the line up include mysterious Mighty Boosh DJ project The Doctor and The Pencil, whose institution released this statement:
"Two inmates of ours, Inmate No. 231 'The Doctor' & Inmate No. 232 'The Pencil' are very much looking forward to their evenings release to The Macmillan Brick Lane Takeover for DJ and music therapy. Please return them back to The Sunnyvale Institution for the Criminally Insane once they are done…"
Other additions, playing to help raise £30,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, include electronic hip hop duo Dan Le Sac vs. Scroobius Pip, synthpop Londoner’s Filthy Dukes (DJ set), Indie pop rock Scots The Xcerts, Punk ‘n’ roll Watford rockers Blackhole, alternative riff-heavy indie from 12 Dirty Bullets, gruff punk rock from Spy Catcher and alternative psychedelic folk from Magic & Fur. Providing the post punk jagged anthems will be The Dead Formats, expect wonderful honest songs from singer/songwriter Dave House and there will also be some Irish tinged folk from John Lillis with loads more acts still to be announced.
Kicking off at 12 noon, the event boasts 12 hours of exceptional music entertainment from an eclectic mix of some of the best indie, electro, folk and punk rock bands around.  One wristband (£20) will give fans access to live music from a host of established acts, in 7 of East London’s finest venues - 93 Feet East, Vibe Bar, Café 1001, Hoxton Bar + Kitchen, Old Blue Last, Cargo and Macbeth.
