With the FIFA 2026 World Cup slowly approaching, a new development has been made about the upcoming event. Set to be hosted in the USA, across 11 states, while also spreading to Mexico and Canada, with a record of 48 teams taking part.
It was announced yesterday that the US will be enforcing their Super Bowl syle half time show at the World Cup, with an 11-minute interval with co-headliners Madonna, Shakira and K-Pop band BTS. Curated by Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, who came to Instagram yesterday (Thursday 14th May) to make the official announcement with beloved Sesame Street duo Elmo and Cookie Monster, as well as The Muppets legends Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
Set to take place in New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, 19th July, which will also be the host place for the final. The half-time will raise money for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative working to raise $100m (£73m) for children worldwide.
The announcement then comes days after the official release of Shakira and Burna Boy's collab for the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Official Song, 'Dai Dai'. Making this Shakira's fourth contribution to the World Cup.
