MTV to axe UK music TV channels

MTV will be shutting down its UK TV channels at the end of 2025. Once a cultural force for music videos, MTV's decline is a reflection of changing consumer habits.

From January 1st 2026, UK viewers will no longer be able to view channels MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live, which will all stop broadcasting. However, MTV HD will remain on air. It's a sad moment for a channel which became a huge cultural outlet in the 90s and 00s, it will be sadly missed.
