Lockdown Sounds: an isolation playlist by Black Circle

An impressive emerging talent, Black Circle first burst onto the DJ circuit with his 'Foolish' release on RADIANT. Since then he’s worked collaboratively with the likes of Nic Fanciulli, Matthias Tanzmann and, most recently, Rony Seikaly on their track ‘What For’, released earlier this month.

Among official remixes for Eli & Fur as well as CamelPhat, Black Circle seems well on the way to becoming a regular on the international circuit (once normality resumes).

For now, the Zurich-based artist has been busy putting together his Lockdown Sounds playlist for Skiddle.

 

Lovebirds - 'Want You In My Soul'

Hot Natured - 'Different Sides'

"This is a track I heard through a friend and it got stuck in my head for days. Funny thing was, my friend was on vacation and i couldn't find it anywhere, but wanted it so bad! Then I heard it listening to random music on Spotify. Made my day."

 

Nathan Ball - 'Crazy (Acoustic)'

"I think we can all agree on this one. The original from Gnarls Barkley always made me dance, but Nathan Ball totally took this one to the next level emotionally with a nice piano instrumental. I love it when artists cover songs and put their own style into it. Huge!"

 

Jamie xx - 'Obvs'

"Man this tune is heaven. I love the Caribbean steel drum so much in this. Makes me think of being somewhere on the beach and sipping a Pina Colada, but this one has a deep touch with a tone which touches my heart."

 

Rüfüs Du Sol - 'Until The Sun Needs To'

"I'm a huge fan of these guys, and this one is very special because I've always listened to this when travelling to gigs. Sitting on the plane and just feeling the music, makes me euphoric - it's like first falling in love."

 

Krystal Klear - 'Neutron Dance'

"The title speaks for itself. Takes me back to the 80s. Very funky but still super catchy, has me dancing alone in the studio. Very motivating!"

 

Nic Fanciulli Feat. Damon Albarn - 'Saying'

"No words needed for this one really. I love the work Nic did on this piece of musical heaven with Damon. I know Nic as an artist and I've always loved his music. Wherever I go this is always with me. Big tune!"

 

Shakedown - 'At Night'

"A big and classic tune from the Swiss music project, Shakedown. I grew up with this track, released on Defected back in the 90s. I'm still playing the acapella and mixing it into my tracks. It feels like a never-ending love story. Old but gold."

Rony Seikaly & Black Circle - 'What For'
