Knockengorroch Festival announces first wave of artists for 2023 edition

A selection of world-class names from near and far will journey to the stunning Southern Uplands of Scotland to mark the festival's milestone 25th anniversary

Scotland's Knockengorroch Festival has recently named the first acts confirmed to make an appearance at the event's very special 25th-anniversary edition, taking place from Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th May 2023.

Among the many globally renowned world music talents set to make the journey to the festival's stunning Southern Uplands home, set amidst the hills of Galloway in South West Scotland, are the likes of Zentone, a collaboration of the two most legendary dub bands in France, Zenzile and High Tone, as well as nine-piece funk band Cut Capers, Knockengorroch favourites Old Blind Dogs, who opened the first edition of Knockengorroch back in June 1998, and the mighty Mungo’s Hi Fi, providing festival revellers with a full sound system and their unique take on ska, reggae, dancehall and dubstep.

Other names announced include Yiddish Twist Orchestra, violin master Akram AbdulfattahThe Langan BandDowdelin, Sheelanagig and The Drystones, delivering an eclectic mix of genres - from traditional Celtic folk and Middle Eastern music to modern jazz, reggae, dancehall, dubstep and more. 

There are still plenty of acts yet to be announced for the festival's memorable quarter-century celebration, with the full dance tent line-up due to be revealed in the coming months (Watch this space). The festival will also feature environment and heritage workshops and activities, dancing, comedy, theatre shows, arts and crafts and a bunch of activities to keep the kids happy.
