Karen Elson has finally found her voice.

The model - who has two children with her husband Jack White - admits she has always wanted to make music, but never had the confidence to do so until now.

The British beauty - who recently released her first album `The Ghost Who Walks' - said: "I realised when I was 18, 19, 20 that I really loved making music; it's what I really wanted to do. Obviously I was really busy as a model. It took up most of my time. But I put my roots down, got an apartment in the East Village, went to the guitar store and got an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar and a four-track.

"For years, I sat in my room and wrote probably some really bad songs. But I slowly learned how to find my voice, what kind of music I'm into."

Karen admits she wouldn't have found the confidence to record the LP if it hadn't been for the support of her musician spouse.

She added to the Montreal Gazette newspaper: "It got to a point where it was ridiculous. Once he made me realise that I was feeling really insecure he pushed me to believe in myself. He really did."
