The remarkable JOAN ARMATRADING, one of Britain's greatest female artists, will play a one-off gig at London’s indigO2 on Friday 27th June 2008. 
The multi-award winning artist with 19 stunning albums to her credit, Joan's subtle and sublime music has touched millions of people all over the world. 
 
Known as a true craftsman for her distinctive vocals and consummate musicianship, her effortlessly eclectic sound ranges from true soul, heart felt blues and sophisticated pop and is driven by her passionate guitar melodies. Three times Grammy nominated, the most recent for her latest album "Into The Blues", Joan has the remarkable achievement of being the first female UK artist to debut at No1 on the Billboard blues chart as well as being the first black UK artist to do so. The show at indigO2 will feature tracks from  "Into the Blues" as well as some of her most famous numbers including "Love and Affection", "Willow", "Drop The Pilot" and "Lovers Speak"
 
In musical terms Joan Armatrading has achieved far more than most performers even dream of - she has played, and still does, with some of the finest musicians around, she has received countless gold, platinum and silver discs, she has been nominated for both Brit and Grammy Awards and she has been the recipient of a highly coveted Ivor Novello Award. In addition she has also featured in VH1’s Top 100 voted poll The Most Influential Women In Rock.  Not only that, but Joan is one of the few female artists ever to receive an MBE and is currently chairwoman of the highly prestigious Women Of The Year.
