JAMIE TAYLOR?S DEBUT EP REACHED THE TOP SPOT IN THE TECHNO REVIEW CHART IN MIXMAG. HAILED AS A RISING STAR BY SUCH LUMINARIES AS MARCO BAILEY, GOLDEN BOY OF HARD DANCE KING BK'S LABEL RIOT RECORDS AND GENERAL TECHNO WONDERBOY, IT'S NO SURPRISE THAT OWNERS OF NEW DIGITAL LABEL 'FWD RECORDS' DAVE STEWARD & JAMIE TAYLOR HAVE DECIDED TO APPEAR ON THIER FIRST RELEASE...

DAVE HIMSELF MEANWHILE, ALL BE IT UNDER SEVERAL DIFFERENT GUISES, HAS LONG BEEN
RECOGNISED AS ONE OF TRUE PIONEERS OF THE HARD DANCE SCENE SINCE ITíS VERY BEGINNING, AND HIS PRODUCTIONS ON THIS EP REFLECT HIS KILLER INSTINCT OF RECOGNISING THE DIRECTION OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE SCENE AND SETTING THE PRECEDENT FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW...

Q : Dave Steward :
We recently saw the launch of your new digital label 'FWD Records' : is this a sign that you are embracing the digital revolution or another example of you staying ahead of the game?

FWD Records has been set up by myself and Jamie purely to put out our sound.
We have been working on our vibe here for some time now so the launch of FWD>> was just
logical progression between myself and Jamie.

Its not really about embracing the digital revolution or staying ahead its just about getting
people to dig our sound.

Q : Dave Steward :
And how exactly would you define the sound of FWD?

Ummmmm.... we simply calve out a party groove, twisting every boundary possible.
I'd like to think of FWD>> as experimental, minimal, party techno.
Having such artists as Adultario Divino, Jamie Taylor and I really twists up this label like no other.

Q : Jamie Taylor :
Seeing as right now i get the impression that Iíd get a better suntan sitting
behind your arse than spending a week in the Bahamas, what is it that attracted
you to FWD>> RECORDS?

Well I hooked up with Dave from his hard dance label ToughTrax and decided to try and create that party, techy vibe for something new. Weíre crossing our fingers hoping it will kick off a bit. Iím mainly with Ed Real n BKís Label Riot so Eds helped us out a lot, pushing the tunes I do in the background.

Q : Jamie Taylor and Dave Steward :
Once the new EP is released, can we expect to see you guys performing Mind-blowing live p.a. sets like those of k90 and lab4? And if so when and where?!

We have been preparing a few live sets hear in the studio, but fitting in the time has been hard.
Getting the launch of FWD out the way, we can now concentrate on performing out live.
We both have live albums due out on the label very soon, so basically when these hit the shops we will be bashing our studio gear in a club near you.

Q : Dave Steward :
Being a major techno fan myself I can't help but wonder where the hell awesome artists like Adultario Divino and E-Type have come from, seeing as Iíd only heard of them when i caught wind of the launch of FWD>>, yet they're already getting plays on radio one by the likes of Fergie...explain!

Canít you give this question to Jamie...Ggrrr
The launch of FWD has been explosive, with support all over the place, I think our futuristic party sound and underground vibe just reflects from our characters. E-Type and Adultario are very experiment producers completely on there own trip these lads. E-type being one of my production names and Adultario our secret Spanish friend.

Q : Dave Steward and Jamie Taylor :
Can we expect to see some big name collaborations on future releases on FWD??

Yeah we got tons planned for FWD but we arenít going to tell you, well unless you get me 24 cans of Stella to finish off this interview Iím not revelling anything. End of.

Q : Jamie Taylor :
What got you into the scene and when did you decide that DJ-ing and production was the route for do?

It all started in the golden days when I were at primary school listening to rave tapes like DJ vibes and lively, force n styles n all deet and then I bought some Chris Liberator and Tresor records when I got my first Numarks now Iím fully set up apart from my 5 quid Beringer headphones I need to update, so shy.

Q : Jamie Taylor :
What would you be up to now if you werenít a DJ or producer?

Probably be in society going to cheesy town night clubs having one night stands as they do listening to bootlegs Ė those places make me paranoid and the people are very scary. I get funny looks in there and I donít know why!

Q : Jamie Taylor and Dave Steward :
When youíre not out and about dj'ing, doing live PA's or producing, what do you do to chill out, wind down?

Jamie: Good question, I donít actually wind down. Iím a very edgy person but I do ride on Daveís quad bikes Ė I love the feeling of falling off. Lots of inspiration there! We always have parties on quad bikes. Weíll be going fishing soon as he has his own fishing pit to the lucky bastard!

Dave: Hahaha I love a go on me quad but Jamieís completely disappeared again on it.

Q : Dave Steward :
Tell us a little about your studio and the equipment you use.

At FWD studio, we use a 24 channel mixing desk, some analogue modelling synths, several hard drives, one being a Carillon AC1 and best of all TANNOY 8D monitors, I could waffle on about hardware ere all day so probably best I leave this question there.......

Q : Dave Steward :
What does a typical week involve for you?

Mate these questions are really hard... right, Plenty of Stella, studio bookings home and away, A&R for me labels and artists, probably a few curries, Cleaning up Jamie's pile of pistachio nuts, a few hours in me outdoor hot tub, tons and tons of techno and hard dance music at an exceptionally loud level hahahaha, a few events and possibly the odd after hourís club.
That all on a Monday lol...

Q : Dave Steward and Jamie Taylor :
Where do you see yourself in 12 months and what advice can you give to other artists trying to break though?

Dave: Tricky question this one. Itís hard to say really, opportunities arise rapidly all the time within the industry.
Looking back now 12 months ago I would never of thought I be here now, so saying where I will be in another 12months is impossible, I owe a lot to the likes of Ed Real and BK for supporting us with FWD Records on Trackitdown.net as support like this is will only push our sound into the future. I guess in this game we get as much as we give. Work work work in the only answer.

Jamie: Also, have a decent pair of headphones so you get the rough idea of the club sound, if you play out thatís a bonus to because you can spot errors on certain system and get back to studio to improve

Q : Dave Steward and Jamie Taylor :
And finally what colour are both your socks? lol

Dave: Well as it goes Jamie has none as he has been in the hot tub for far too long now and I have odd socks on ha-ha.
Jamie: Also Dave wiped spare ribs on my hoody that now looks like its that time of the month!
Dave: I told you mate that was you, you cooked over 20 bbq spare ribs and ate the lot while I was working on a tune, u then layed on the floor after abusing us all here, passed out and ya woke up on me floor the next day, oh not forgetting over 36 cans of larger you also drank hahaha
