Liverpool’s Subsound has long since been a firm favourite of the Liverpool clubbing scene. This April sees the arrival of two of the biggest names in 2 step, breaks, and garage that have ever been. Deekline and Ed Solo have combined to create one of the most talked about new albums in the field, ‘Bounce ‘n’ Shake’, and will be bringing their party starting passion for their music to the Liverpool crowd.

We spoke to Deekline ahead of his first Liverpool gig to find out more behind one of garage music’s most prolific producers.

We have been delighted with the results of your recording partnership with Ed Solo. How did that come about?

I heard Ed's mix down of a tune and I was so impressed with it that I wanted to work with him. He gave me a fake phone number at first, but then I ran into him at the sexual health clinic a few months later and he agreed to work with me if I promised not to tell anyone I saw him there. The rest is history…!

How would you describe your working relationship with Ed?

Symbiotic. We work really well as a team, we both come from different backgrounds musically - Ed from DnB/Jungle and me from Garage, so we bring different elements to the table. Ed likes to sleep until the afternoon and I get up early, so I spend the most of my day phoning Ed trying to wake him up.

What, other than music, inspires your producing?

Everything, my friends, comedy, art, different cultures. Life really.

How are you feeling about playing Liverpool for the first time?

I Can't wait! I've been a Liverpool supporter since I was a kid.

With your schedule being so busy, where in particular are you looking forward to playing this year?

I am looking forward to playing at Glastonbury and Kazantip.

With being involved in so many genres, which excites you the most at the moment?

I'm listening to a lot of trap lately and I'm also really excited about the return of 2-step, there's a lot of sick garage music.

Are there any producers or DJs that have grabbed your attention recently?

I like Stantons, Toddla T, Diplo, Lady Waks, Woz, Rack Ruin, Martin Horger, Mike Deliquent.

What are your top 5 tunes at the moment (any genre)?

Serial Killer Remix No No No

Hardy Hard - Can’t hide it

RL Grimes - Satisfaction

Just Blaze and Bauuer - Higher

Iggy Azalea - Work

What would you be if you weren’t a producer?

Psychologist or a Professional Skater!

What does the future hold for DJ Deekline?

Plenty more tracks, collaborations and bangin club sets! Always working on new material!

Thank you Deekline!

Make sure you get to see him and Ed Solo at Liverpools SubSound night @ 40 Seel Street.
