Ian Brown has just been announced as the headline act for The Warehouse Project Presents... taking place at Platts Field Park, Manchester! With 15,000 people due to descend on the park, it is sizing up to be a truly epic affair. This event is being brought to you by The Warehouse Project and Ear To The Ground, two names that are synonymous with quality in Manchester, the only thing they couldn’t prepare for is the weather! This event is going to kick the summer off in serious fashion.

The line-up for this gig is stacked, and you’d be frowned upon to call any of these names support: founded in ’94, and with their most recent album in 2008; Unkle (live), Bad Lieutenant (live) with New Order front man Bernard Sumner, Oldham’s own The Whip (live), legendary turntablists; Scratch Perverts, Hacienda dj, Mike Pickering, A Certain Ratio (live), Ninja Tune’s Mr Scruff, Justin Robertson, New Order’s Peter Hook, Unabombers, El Diablos, Krysko, Now Wave Djs.

This event marks the 100 year anniversary of Platt Fields Park, and does so with one of the biggest line-ups of 2010. Resting on three areas: Fallowfield, Rusholme and Moss side, the park itself lies at the centre of one of Manchester’s most multicultural areas, with more than 43 languages been spoken in the surrounding streets alone.

This event carries a mass of history with the Manchester music scene, with a number of local legends from the Hacienda to the Stone Roses, where Ian Brown first hit the big time. Since the split in 1996, Ian Brown himself has had no less than 14 top 40 UK singles, released six solo albums and sold out six UK tours. A real man of the people, Brown was named ‘God Like Genius’ by NME in 2006.

The Warehouse Project itself has come a long way since its birth in 2006 at the Boddingtons Brewery. Since then it has found a home beneath Picadilly Station and cemented itself thoroughly into the forefront of not only Manchester, but the national clubbing scene. Now set on pushing the boat out yet again, The Warehouse Project will surely succeed in putting on one of the biggest and best parties of the year.
