Grey Lantern has announced its first two shows of 2015, with recent Weird World signings Richard Dawson and Hookworms headlining on February 11th and March 1st at Soup Kitchen and Sound Control respectively.

Teaming up with Soup Kitchen on the 11th, Grey Lantern's first show of the year features North-East-based skewed troubadour Richard Dawson, with his Weird World debut Nothing Important buried amidst critical acclaim ("This is a record that unsettles and subverts" 5* - The Guardian; "Dawson emerges as a talented chronicler of the tiniest, realest details" ? NME.) At once charming and abrasive, Dawson's shambolically virtuosic guitar playing stumbles from music-hall tune-smithery to spidery swatches of noise-colour, swathed in amp static and teetering on the edge of feedback.

On March 1st, meanwhile, long-time Grey Lantern favourites Hookworms return to Manchester to play their biggest northern headlining show to-date and first since last year's specially curated weekender at Islington Mill. Like Dawson, the band have released their Weird World debut to an avalanche of praise, with The Hum riding high in many end of year album polls. On paper, The Hum is the flipside of their blistering debut LP Pearl Mystic, but if it's a reaction, then its consequence is an album that reaches towards another plain. Hookworms have forged their personality now; as MJ says "it's like that bit on Fugazi's Instrument documentary where Brendan Canty says that a jam they?ve got sounds 'good, but not Fugazi' ? we sound more like Hookworms rather than anyone else on this record."
