Yearning for the days when Leeds was at the forefront of clubbing and funkyhouse music was at its absolute peak, Mark Tillotson FunkyLove director & resident DJ wanted to host a night that would tap in to everyone?s memories and re-create the vibe of ?the good old days?.

Remembering nights such as Federation, SpeedQueen, Love2Be, Glasshouse, Kissdafunk (the list is endless) and the scores of amazing venues - Oslo, Velvet, Fibre, Fudge Bar, Townhouse to name but a few, it?s easy to see why Leeds was at the centre of a club culture so many of us came to adore.

FunkyLove is all about bringing back those feel good times, but don?t be mistaken ? FunkyLove is NOT a pastiche of tried and tested nights. It is NOT about re-creating events. FunkyLove IS about playing the funkyhouse tracks that evoke memories from the nights we all know and love and bringing together people who truly appreciate this sound to make new memories.

We know there?ll be people out there who think we are living in the past and believe that music tastes should be allowed to ?progress?. Our response is simple ? this music shaped a great era in Leeds? music history ? why should it be forgotten?

With that in mind, the FunkyLove ethos is simple ? we will only play the music we love. We will not change our sound to bow down to popular culture. There will be no deep house, upfront, electro or anything else ?trendy? ? we feel there are enough places catering to these needs.

FunkyLove is not about numbers through the door or financial gains. It?s about creating a fantastic night for likeminded clubbers who truly appreciate good music. To this end, we have a handpicked team of funkyhouse aficionados who are devoted to their music and we guarantee you won?t be disappointed.

What?s really good to know is that whilst you?re dancing the night away, you?ll also be raising money for some great causes. Each FunkyLove event (scheduled to take place every three months), is dedicated to raising funds for local charities ? as chosen by you! Prior to each event, you will be invited to vote for the charity of your choice on the FunkyLove Facebook page and all profits raised on the night will be donated to the chosen one.

What better excuse for a night out do you need? Get your glad rags on and donate whilst you dance? (Beats running a marathon in our opinion!)
