With only a day left till Chris comes to town to grace us with his unique style of pounding techno grooves we caught up with him for a chin wag.

Have you visited Leeds or been up this way before?

I have been to Leeds once, it was a visit to Elland Road the early 90?s, I think we came second..

When did you start going out and get into djing?

The first party I went to was in London in ?89, a mixture of rave and acid house, but caught the bug in 93. Soon after I heard the tracks CJ Bolland played at a local club, I started to buy vinyls and hunt down the tracks I had heard on tapes. The first time I played in a club was in 96, in Brighton.

What?s your production set up like? Main DAW, computer operating system, Fav VST effects and instruments or do you prefer analogue hardware?

I mainly use Reason, I love it. Occasionally use Ableton too and when I can I will start to work with analogue hardware again as with the first tracks I made with Huw (Matig) in 2005. Analogue sound is still better but I do have as much fun with Reason, maybe partly because the layout looks and feels a bit like the real thing.

Tell us a bit about Berlin, how do you like it there?

Berlin is great. Its a unique kind of city, quite different to the rest of Germany. I really like the vibe there and you can always find interesting things to check out, as well as it being probably the best place to live in the world at the moment if you?re a technohead!

Your last release on Rohmaterial was collaboration with Rich Jones, planning any more collabs with him or anyone else in the near future?

Actually we do plan to do some more things soon, there is a collab remix we have recently made which is due out in July on a label called Resiliens ? will defo be dropping it on Saturday.

When should we expect the next release on your Rohmaterial label?

We are planning the next Rohmaterial release for end of July/start of August ? will be another EP from me and one of those will be tested at Dubtek too!

We really liked Organ Play on Cari Lekabuche?s H-Productions, when?s your next release?

Thanks, I was really pleased with the response to that one. The next release comes out on Organism, 3 solo tracks plus a remix from Petter B for the vinyl and a chilled dub mix from Petter for the digi release as well.

We?ve heard you are starting a second label. What should we expect from it?

Yeah, thats gonna start this summer too ? just sorting out the first release now. Its from JC Laurent and includes a remix from Mattias Fridell. Rohmaterial will always stick to the club rollers with heavy drums, sort of the more pure techno stuff, but I wanted to start something with a deeper sound, maybe with some chill-out and broken beat stuff too. I?ve started working on some tracks to release on the new label, ?Sonorific?, but the first release will be from JC Laurent, a 4 tracker including a Matthias Fridell remix, so look out for that one!

Give us your 3 favourite techno tracks of all time.

I knew there would be one hard question. Shit, where do I start?!! Ok? I?m going for 3 oldies..
