FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND MOVED TO SUNDAY - DOWNLOADS 24 HOUR ‘THE VILLAGE’ ANNOUNCED - MORE BAND ADDED: MONDO GENERATOR, KHOMA, ART OF DYING, I-DEF-I, KEIKO AND THE HEDRONS - DOWNLOAD RADIO CONFIRMED TO BROADCAST OVER THE SITE ALL WEEKEND! - SNICKERS' GET ON WITH IT ZONE - AFTERSHOCK ARENA - FIVE A SIDE FOOTBALL, THE VILLAGE CINEMA PLUS MUCH MORE!

As we draw ever closer to the weekend of 9, 10, 11 June, on which the nearly sold out Download Festival descends once again on Donington Park, a few stage changes to already confirmed acts have been announced, plus six more bands have been added to the bill.

Moving from their original Friday slot to the Sunday is Funeral For A Friend, who will now play directly before Guns N’ Roses on the Main Stage. Singer Matt Davies, thrilled about this change, commented:

"We’re very excited to have the opportunity of playing before Guns N’ Roses on the Sunday at this year’s Download Festival. We have a great live history with the festival and are looking forward to ending our touring year on what I’m sure will be a high note and a weekend to remember for all of Funeral For A Friend."

Other changes for the weekend are on the Saturday and Sunday – Devil Driver are to swap with Sikth on the SNICKERS' Stage, Stonegard are trading places with To My Surprise on the Gibson/MySpace.com Stage – both on Saturday - and Streetlight Youth have moved from the SNICKERS Bowl to the Gibson/MySpace.com Stage on the Sunday.

Also now confirmed for the weekend are Mondo Generator, Khoma, I-Def-I, Art of Dying, Keiko and The Hedrons. Ex-Queens Of The Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri’s solo venture Mondo Generator bring their mentalist antics to the Gibson/MySpace.com stage on Saturday whilst Roadrunner Record signings Khoma will be opening up the SNICKERS Stage on the same day with their epic and atmospheric rock. Manchester’s I-Def-I are bringing their high-voltage metal to open up Sunday’s Gibson/MySpace.com Stage and Art of Dying are travelling from Canada to rock out on the same stage on the Friday. Also on Friday, fledgling rockers Keiko who recently supported Hundred Reasons join the SNICKERS Bowl. Femme-fatales The Hedrons take Streetlight Youth’s place to bring some glamour to the SNICKERS Bowl on the Saturday.

For the first time ever, Download is to become a wholly 24-hour experience with the creation of THE VILLAGE! Download organisers are pleased to announce around the clock activities running on-site throughout the weekend in addition to the amazing acts performing across the three stages and SNICKERS Bowl, which include the headliners Tool, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses.

Carrying on from when the Main Stage finishes every night will be an exciting and unique hub of 24-hour entertainment and activity, which includes the Gibson/MySpace.com Stage. Managed by the Area 51 crew once again, THE VILLAGE will contain an unlimited amount of strange sights, other-worldly weirdness and after-hour activities. Heading this area up is the SNICKERS Get On With It Zone, which is to run LaserQuest, Bungee Runs, Arcade Machines, Human Table Football and Gladiator Jousting! Alongside this is the AfterShock Arena, which will put on Contortionists, Comedy Burlesque performances and Pyrotechnics.

Opening on Wednesday 7 June at 6pm and closing on Sunday 11 June at 4am, other events running in THE VILLAGE over the five days will be THE VILLAGE Cinema – which is scheduled to run England’s World Cup match against Paraguay, SNICKERS Bowl Late, which will show the best of Extreme Sports films and the Gibson/MySpace.com Afterhours (presenting Caberet courtesy of Area 51).

Other VILLAGE goings-on will be Markets, Fire Juggling and Drumming workshops, a Retreat Area (massage, palm readers), Graffiti Walls, Fairgrounds, Five-A-Side Football, Sonic Forest, Campsite Café and Download Supermarket!

Festival organiser Stuart Galbraith states:

"THE VILLAGE is taking Download Festival one step further –we’ve already gone from a two day festival to three days of music, and people now can really have a first-hand connection with this truly interactive rock environment and the full festival experience. We look forward to welcoming everyone down to THE VILLAGE and would love to hear our customers’ comments on this new addition to the Download site."

Broadcasting across the entire site this year will be the exclusive Download Radio. Powered by Kerrang! Radio this will enjoy a key position within THE VILLAGE and be privy to all the goings-on in and around Donington Park on the weekend. The station will be featuring special guest appearances and tons of music to get the atmosphere going – all punters are invited to check it out and request their favourite rock anthems! Make sure you take your radio on site and tune into Download Radio - this will be running from Wednesday to Sunday. Keep your eyes and ears open and keep checking www.downloadfestival.co.uk for frequency details.

The biggest event on the UK rock calendar – the Download festival – celebrates its fourth year in 2006 with the most outstanding line-up to date including headline performances from Tool, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses on 9, 10 and 11 June respectively.
