MORE LOCKERS AVAILABLE FOR THE FESTIVAL WEEKEND!

As we head into the final week of the long road to Download 2006, it has been officially confirmed that ALL weekend tickets for this year’s festival have now totally SOLD OUT. Since going on sale back in February, the demand for tickets has been stronger than ever, undoubtedly helped by the stellar line-up this year which includes the headliners of Tool, Metallica and Guns N’ Roses.

Festival organiser Stuart Galbraith commented;

"Although Download is in it’s fourth year, this is the first year we have sold out with weekend tickets and we are really happy that so many people have embraced the rock festival we have created. We are obviously disappointed that we are now having to turn people away, but next year’s festival will be back bigger and better than ever. So for anyone who didn’t manage to get hold of tickets for this year will be happy to know that presale tickets for Download 2007 will be available on Friday 16 June."

A limited amount of day tickets are still up for grabs – at least for Friday 9 June and Sunday 11 June, as Saturday 10 June has now completely sold out. With a mere 9 days to go until the start of the Download weekend, the remaining tickets will be snapped up quickly, so to purchase, and for more information, please go to www.downloadfestival.co.uk.

DOWNLOAD RADIO....

As previously announced, Download Radio has once again been confirmed to broadcast across the entire weekend, powered by Kerrang! Radio. On-air from Wednesday 12pm through to Monday 12pm, the station will be playing out the crowd’s favourite rock anthems, bringing in special guests for quick chats and running constant updates on the festival as and when they happen. Don’t forget to take your radio along, and tune into 88.7 FM to catch all the latest!

DownloadFestival.TV....

A completely new and dedicated online video sharing service - DownloadFestival.TV - will be launched just prior to the festival with a special recording of metal favourites Trivium from last year’s festival. This will be THE place to share your video experiences of Download 2006 so make sure you capture your festival experience on video and bring them home to upload. All video formats will be accepted and can be uploaded by visiting www.downloadfestival.tv, or text them straight from your mobile phone to 07740 443 444 (£1.50).

To really stand out in the crowd this year and get properly noticed, Download punters are being invited to send in their text messages and photos to appear on the Main Stage screen in between the bands. Messages can be sent to the screens by texting SHOUT ‘yourmessage’ to 88188 (50p per text), and photos can be sent via SMS to 07740 443 444 (£1.50 per message).

THE SONIC FOREST....

Making an appearance at this year’s Download – and creating an area in total contrast to the heavy rock mania going on all weekend – is the Sonic Forest, which will be found in THE VILLAGE. Set up by Christopher Janney, the Sonic Forest is an interactive soundscape, generating environmental and melodic sounds as people walk through 16 aluminium poles fitted with speakers, lights and photo-electric cells.

Nintendo Comedy Café 2006....

For those wanting to catch the finest in comedy talent, this year’s Download will also be hosting the Nintendo Comedy Café 2006. If you think you’re even better than some of the acts booked to have you rolling on the floor in stitches, there will be opportunities for all you amateurs to come up and have a go yourself. In addition to the comedy, special Wi-Fi enabled Nintendo DS booths will be set up in association with BT Openzone hotspot technology. Fans will be able to challenge their favourite rock stars as they take a break from performing in the Download backstage area. For more information about Nintendo at Download visit www.nintendo.com.

LOCKERS....

Following an overwhelming demand for lockers this year at Download – the original allocation sold out in the first two weeks of Download going on sale – festival organizers have now ensured that there will be more lockers available for the weekend. Numbers are however limited and festivalgoers are encouraged to purchase lockers as soon as they arrive at the entrance to the campsite.

www.liftshare.com

Making travel easier than ever, Download 2006 have teamed up with www.liftshare.com making sharing transport to Download easier than ever – save money and reduce traffic in one fell swoop – visit www.downloadfestival.co.uk for more info. In addition, buses will be on hand to transport guests onto site and National Express are running direct services to Download on 7,8 and 12 June from most UK towns and cities. Car parking will be provided across the A453.
