Iconic Irish band Dervish are hoping for a more leisurely trip to Cornwall than they endured five years ago when they return to St Ives September Festival this year.
Back in 2015 the band, who have have played festivals from Rio to Glastonbury, toured with the Irish President and struck up tunes on the Great Wall of China, had a hectic race to get to The Guildhall in time.
A flight delay resulted in a car dash which saw them arrive less than 15 minutes before they were due on stage but, following a rapid sound check, they wowed a sell-out audience.
Looking forward to returning to St Ives on Friday, September 20, Dervish's bouzouki player Michael Holmes (pictured) said: "Our last visit to St. Ives was an all too fleeting visit thanks to a delayed flight!
"Both myself and the band are hoping to have more time to savour the beauty of Cornwall this time and we're looking forward to another great show at The Guildhall."
Dervish, formed in 1989, have a line-up which includes some of Ireland?s finest traditional musicians, fronted by one of the country?s best-known singers Cathy Jordan.
Renowned for live performances which match dazzling sets of tunes with stunning interpretations of traditional songs, they released their latest album The Great Irish Song Book this week.
With a fanbase stretcheing across several continents, they spend much of their time travelling across Europe, and have also toured in Asia, South America and Australia.
They were the first Irish band to play the world?s biggest music festival, Rock in Rio, performing to an estimated 250,000 people.
Over the years they have appeared on the same bills as many great performers, including James Brown, Neil Young, Sting and Iron Maiden!
