Carl Cox has been awarded an OBE for services to music, recognising more than four decades spent shaping electronic music and club culture worldwide.

Few figures have done more to take electronic music from an underground movement to a global phenomenon than Carl Cox, and now, after more than four decades of shaping sonic culture, the man himself has received one of the UK's highest honours.
The legendary DJ and producer has been awarded an OBE in the King's Birthday Honours List, recognised for his services to music and his contributions to electronic and club culture worldwide.
From his era-defining residency at Space Ibiza and marathon festival appearances to becoming one of dance music's most recognisable global ambassadors, Cox's influence is difficult to overstate. Few artists have done more to champion electronic music on a global scale while remaining such a beloved figure at the heart of the scene.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Cox said he was "absolutely thrilled and deeply honoured" to receive the award.
"Music has been my life for as long as I can remember," he wrote. "I've been fortunate to do what I love and to connect with so many amazing people through the power of music."
"This recognition is not mine alone - it belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey.
"To the fans who have supported me throughout the years, the artists who have inspired and collaborated with me, the promoters, crews, and teams working tirelessly behind the scenes, my family, friends, and the wider electronic music community: thank you.
"To receive this honour for doing something that has brought me so much joy is truly humbling. Electronic music has given me a purpose, a voice, and a global family, and I’m proud to have played a part in its growth and continued success."
