Cardinals share blistering new single ‘The Burning of Cork’ ahead of debut album Masquerade

Cork’s rising, accordion-embracing, post-punk outfit, Cardinals, have unveiled their latest single, ‘The Burning of Cork’ - a biting and politically charged statement that sees the band at their most menacing. The track arrives alongside a powerful video directed by Greg Purcell, and marks the second glimpse into their much-anticipated debut album, Masquerade, out 13th February via So Young Records.

Frontman Euan Manning said of the release: “The song takes its name from the act of terror inflicted upon Cork City by the British Army's Black and Tan forces in December 1920. It's the record at its heaviest and most menacing.”

Recorded with producer Shrink at RAK Studios in London, Masquerade is set to be an emotionally expansive debut, one that moves between romance, religious imagery, and the darker edges of human nature. Across its ten tracks, the band balances sharp social commentary with moments of vivid intimacy, building a sound that’s as cinematic as it is raw.

Brothers Euan and Finn Manning, joined by cousin Darragh and schoolmates Oskar Gudinovic and Aaron Hurley, have grown from Cork’s underground into one of Ireland’s most vital young acts. Following standout live shows supporting Fontaines D.C., Wunderhorse, and The Pogues in Boston, Cardinals are now touring with NewDad across the UK and Ireland - sharpening their reputation as one of the most compelling new bands to emerge from the Irish scene.

Cardinals’ debut album Masquerade lands on 13th February via So Young Records, released on vinyl, CD, and cassette, including exclusive editions via Rough Trade, Impressed, and the band’s own store.
