Boomtown Fair is levelling up its eco-game for 2026, unveiling a brand new hydrogen-powered main stage set to sit at the heart of this year’s event.

Introducing HYDRO XL - a major evolution of the festival’s pioneering HYDRO stage introduced last year. Expanding from it’s original 8,000 capacity to 20,000, the epic new stage takes over a flagship spot in Downtown, formerly home to the Origins stage. As one of the UK’s first large-scale stages to run entirely on green hydrogen, it marks a significant move forward for eco-conscious festival production.

Powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology, HYDRO XL will operate with zero carbon emissions while still delivering the full-scale sound, lighting and spectacle Boomtown is known for. The stage will also play a central role in the festival’s immersive world-building, hosting key moments from both the opening and closing ceremonies.

Musically, the line-up is just as forward-thinking. Expect headline sets from Skrillex, Four Tet and Floating Points (Live), alongside dance heavyweights Groove Armada.

On the heavier end of the spectrum, HYDRO XL will welcome Brutalismus 3000, 999999999, VTSS and Oguz, while UK sounds are represented by garage pioneer DJ EZ and high-energy innovator Sherelle.

Elsewhere, standout back-to-back sets include Eats Everything B2B TSHA, plus rising names like KILIMANJARO B2B Oppidan and Rossi. B2B Silva Bumpa, alongside cult favourites Effy B2B Ross From Friends and Marlon Hoffstadt.

The launch of HYDRO XL forms part of Boomtown’s wider 2026 theme, Radical Redesign - a festival-wide push to rethink how large-scale events operate, from energy use to creative expression. It also reflects a broader ambition to lead by example, showing that sustainable solutions can work at full festival scale without compromising on experience.

Set to take place from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th August at Matterley Estate, Boomtown 2026 promises another immersive chapter, blending cutting-edge music with storytelling, art and a strong focus on community and environmental responsibility.
