Birkenhead venue Future Yard announce plans for new 600-capacity space

Set on the site of Future Yard’s current outdoor space, the ambitious new venue plans to open this Autumn.

Birkenhead venue Future Yard has shared plans for an ambitious 600-capacity expansion due to open this Autumn. Replacing the Argyle Street venue’s outside space, the new space comprises an indoor live music venue physically connected to Future Yard by a studio complex.

Revealing the plans on social media and on their website last week, Future Yard have launched a Build Our Future fundraiser to assist the project, which will cost £3m. The venue has 95% of the funds secured and hopes to raise the final £150,000 through the campaign, which went live on Friday 27th February.

Still promising to “look and feel unmistakably Future Yard”, the project allows for more opportunities and headline shows for the grassroots venue and is part of Future Yard’s aim to be among the first arts organisations in the UK to achieve operational net zero by 2030. The expansion is supported by the Local Regeneration Fund and Arts Council England’s Capital Investment Programme. Future Yard’s current Live Room and studios won’t be affected by the ongoing development and will continue to operate as usual.

You can check out and donate to the Build Our Future fundraiser here. Future Yard will additionally host the 48 Hour Party People fundraiser concert, which takes place from Friday 6th - Sunday 8th March.
