Benjamin Clementine bagged the Mercury Prize for best album with his debut LP Atleast For Now (listen to 'Cornerstone' from that release below)

He beat off competition from the likes of favourite Jamie xx, Wolf Alice and Florence + The Machine

After inviting all of the other nominees to take to the stage with him, he broke down in tears and fittingly dedicated his award to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks.

On receiving the award he said: "I always believed in my music but after Paris happened I was very down."

The avante-garde artist is vastly acquainted with the city after spending his twenties sleeping rough on the streets of the French capital where he busked on the metro network.
