The Gunners are champions at last, ending a more than two-decade drought as wild celebrations erupt across north London.

London turned red in the early hours of this morning, as fans celebrated Arsenal being crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2004.

The result, which followed Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, sparked huge celebrations across north London, with supporters gathering outside the Emirates Stadium late into the night as fireworks, flares and chants filled the streets. Players and staff were also filmed celebrating at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground after watching City drop points.

It ends a remarkable season for the Gunners, who have finally gone one better after finishing as runners-up in each of the last three campaigns. Arsenal had faced heavy criticism in recent weeks after a damaging defeat to City in April, with rivals accusing Mikel Arteta’s side of “bottling” the title race. But the north London club responded in style, winning their next four league games without conceding to seal top spot.

Arteta’s transformation of Arsenal has been one of the biggest stories in English football. Since returning to the club as manager in 2019, he has rebuilt the squad into genuine title challengers, with this season finally delivering the silverware Arsenal fans have been craving for more than two decades.

Celebrations continued into the early hours, with Declan Rice, Jurriën Timber, Saka and Eberechi Eze among those pictured outside the Emirates Stadium as fans soaked up the club’s long-awaited triumph.
