Oasis’ entire discography is now available in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos on Apple Music.
The new mix is being made available on all the band's albums, including ‘Definitely Maybe’, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, and ‘Be Here Now’. It also includes the band's live albums 'Oasis Knebworth 1996′ and ‘Familiar To Millions’.
To recreate the mixes from scratch on Apple Music, Big Brother Recordings enlisted producer, mixer, and engineer Ryan Hewitt.
About the process, Hewitt said: “Honouring the original mixes, and the original intention of the sound of these records, which are so loud and explosive, and transferring that to Dolby Atmos was one of the greatest challenges of my career.
"These records sounded big in the first place, and now they sound even bigger on Apple Music in Spatial Audio whilst honouring the original spirit of the recordings.”
Spatial Audio is a technology that creates an immersive three-dimensional listening experience. It makes it feel like sound is moving around you, tracking and reacting to your head movement. For example, if you turn your head to the left, you’ll hear more sound in your right ear, as you would if the band were performing in the room with you.
Dolby Atmos is a surround sound technology developed by Dolby Laboratories.
