One of the earliest acid house producers - Charanjit Singh, has passed away peacefully in his sleep aged 75.
A cult figure in the world of electronic music, Singh's 1983 album Synthesizing: Ten Ragas To A Disco Beat saw the pioneer fuse traditional Indian ragas with western dance music - the results at the time were hugely overlooked and as is the case with many of these things, his pioneering work fell on deaf ears and was a commercial flop.
That was until it was lovingly reissued in 2010 by record collector Edo Bouman.
The original vinyl now goes for well over £3000, and is widely regarded as one of the very first uses of the Roland Jupiter-8 keyboard, a Roland TR-808 drum machine and a Roland TB-303 to create acid music. Check out the incredibly ahead of its time 'Raga Bhairav' above.
