Since the passing of late Birmingham rock star Ozzy Osbourne last July, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, has announced that a lifelike AI avatar of the late Ozzy Osbourne is officially on the way. Sharing that the AI replica will be a way for fans to still connect in a completely new era of digital performance, to the Prince of Darkness.
During a talk at The Enduring Legacy of a Rock Icon and His Family: Ozzy Osbourne and The Osbournes, on the License Global main stage at Licensing Expo, she confirmed that “Digital Ozzy” is already deep in development through a partnership between Hyperreal and Proto Hologram.
Working with companies Hyperreal (known for patented Digital DNA process), and Proto, who will then power the holographic presence that allows the virtual Ozzy to appear, move and speak in real time. Sharon shared that, "The things that you can do with that are just endless."
Set to launch in Proto Luma units in both the UK and the US beginning late summer, this will be a major new chapter in the Osbourne legacy.
Speaking about the upcoming launch, Hyperreal CEO Remington Scott said, "This is a living performance, not a rendering, and it draws from nothing that wasn't given willingly. We have the enthusiastic participation of Ozzy's family, and that changes everything about what this can be."
