Taking place across the May bank holiday weekend (Friday 25th - Sunday 27th), beautifully boutique event Alfresco Festival will take over its new site at the historic Hop Farm

As well as inviting a plethora of ravers and some of the biggest names in electronic music, Alfresco also welcomes families to the party with plenty of entertainment for children, teenagers, and of course plenty for the parents to enjoy.

As the festival goes from strength to strength, the 2018 edition of Alfresco is set to be a glorious affair, and we had the tricky task of picking just five artists to see from the perfectly selected Alfresco line up.

Manfredas

Lithuanian lord of the dance Manfredas is one of the most exciting names on the European underground, a promoter with over a decade of experience in Vilnius and a DJ capable of bringing the heat on the lower end of the tempo spectrum.

Grungey disco, off-kilter boogie and post-punk are just some of the influences he showcases on his killer mix for denim brand Edwin, and it's likely he'll be mining the same sounds and much more when he plays the festival.

Jimmy Coultas

Horse Meat Disco

Find Horse Meat Disco tickets

It's probably scientifically proven that you can't hear a Horse Meat Disco DJ set and not dance. For over a decade the all inclusive club night has led the way for disco within clubland, everything from the string-laden masterpieces of the seventies to the more modern sounding edit scene being championed at their DJ sets and parties.

As such, they perfectly complement Alfresco's wide reaching appeal with a guaranteed mixture of forgotten classic, unheard rarities and disco divas sound-tracking your weekend.

DJ Harvey

Find DJ Harvey tickets

In the pantheon of great DJs, DJ Harvey is up there with the best of them. A renowned audiophile, he first came to prominence in the early nineties by helping bring the US garage sound to London, famously bringing the likes of Francois K and Larry Levan to his weekly night Moist, by bringing house and disco full circle as acid house spiralled into a club scene.

After returning from Hawaii, where he spent the majority of the beginning of this century, he confirmed his legendary status with lengthy sets, giving him the opportunity to roam free throughout his vast collection. Check him in fine form on a classic Beats in Space podcast above for a taste of what to expect.

Spencer Parker

Find Spencer Parker tickets

One of the leading DJs in Europe, Spencer Parker is known for his underground idiosyncratic house and techno sound, with his productions, remixes and edits dropped on the regular by the likes of Gerd Janson and Radio Slave.

A resident of Berlin, when he's not busy putting out productions on his own Work Them Records label, he's often found in Berghain where he plays regularly, be it playing house and disco in Panorama Bar, or techno in the basement - the perfect accompaniment to Alfresco's line up.

AW

Optimo

Find Optimo tickets

This Scottish duo have been bringing huge nights of dance music to their home nation since they began a weekly club night called Optimo Espacio in 1997.

The pairing of JD Twitch and JG Wilkes have a fondness for the leftfield and their sets blend electro, rock, swing and literally anything else, making them extremely good value for money. Their Sub Club x Boiler Room set above is living proof of this and a live set at Alfresco will 100% be a treat for all involved.
