The Galahad Complex is the musical persona of USA based musical performer, Raven Darkly, who once performed as ‘Thee Duke of Dark’. He took on this new title as tribute to his former Employer/Friend 60’s pop star-Bobby Vee, when he passed away in 2016 from Alzheimer’s. Bob would often introduce Raven as someone who possessed a ‘Galahad Complex’ and hence the name change.
His music is greatly influenced by the theatrical renderings of Scott Walker and his disciples: Morrissey, The Divine Comedy, David Bowie and Nick Cave (whom he’s most often compared). There’s also an edgy, punk like element which reminds of The Jam, Iggy Pop and The Replacements.
He describes his act as ‘Dramatic Cabaret’, songs which are high on expressive heartbreak and borderline danger. He released his debut album ‘The Devil’s Been Here’ in late 2019 and it laid motionless until the restraints of Covid began to loosen in mid 2021. The songs reflect both Anger and Loss of a time when historic structures and common courtesy were once respected and cherished but now diminished in the name of progress and greed.
He is touring the UK/Ireland this Autumn (and has done several times including his years with Bobby Vee) and set to begin his follow up upon his return to the states in late November. He has had the great fortune of supporting artists such as: Holly Golightly, The Long Blondes, The Solar Flares to name but a few.
Expect guitar driven attitude, accented by dark alley suffering, as well as strings to lift it's ambient wave of emotion, which flirts with life's mortal coil.
