Manchester Transport Guide

To put things simply, Manchester is a big place. Luckily for you, Manchester has a plethora of ways to get from A - B via C, with Fallowfield sitting on one of the busiest bus routes in Europe. This means competition is stiff, which for the punter translates to lots of buses. Of course the buses are busy, and smell a bit, but come on get over it, you're a student now. Just remember to smile, say thank you and hold on tight. The Magic Bus operates the cheapest service, with the option of weekly passes for just £8.50 or termly and yearly passes respectively.

For the first few weeks (or maybe months) of your life in Manchester, your world will probably centre around the Oxford Road/Wilmslow Road Corridor. This is one long road that starts in the City Centre and ends in Fallowfield, taking in the unversity campuses, bars, shops and restaurants along the way. This makes things pretty simple for new students in the city, with (nearly) all buses taking this same route.

The bus terminal in Manchester is located in Picadilly Gardens, and not to be confused with the nearby coach station where you can pick up coaches to all the UK's major destinations.
