Biography

Manchester's The 99 Degree combine a sleazy mix of Surf, Punk, Rockabilly, 60’s Garage Rock, Spaghetti Western soundtracks and outsider Country and Blues with raucous, gang-style, sing-along vocals, dropping references from Bo Diddley, to Bandits, to a Bed Of Bones.

Energetic live shows frequently draw comparisons with Fat White Family, The Growlers, The Cramps, Black Lips and The Allah Las but with something defiantly their own and increasingly becoming labelled as "Black Surf". After gaining notoriety with DIY headline events and support slots with some of the alternative scene's best names (The Fall, King Khan & BBQ, The Shivas, Mystic Braves, Kid Congo, Death Valley Girls, The Schizophonics) the band’s debut EP release 'Boot Hill Surf Club' was released in 2017.

2019 has seen the release of double A-side single Love (Like I Need You)/Bed Of Bones on Sour Grapes Records and word is now creeping further afield out of Manchester’s basement venues.

With a triumphant set at Kendal Calling in the bag The 99 Degree have just finished recording their next release at Fat White Family’s former studio in Sheffield and it’s a monster!

"Scuzzy, reverb drenched fuzz garage like the Gun Club with a hangover – a disheveled rock n roll with seat of the pants, daredevil riffola, garage clatter and Link Wray dervish licks and a charismatic frontman who has got the caveman stomp down to perfection" - John Robb, Louder Than War.

“They truly are a live onslaught with every guitar riff assaulting your ears in a messy mix of abandoned bliss. The 99 Degree are a must have experience" - Flick of the Finger
